It is important to know that each hair grows independently, meaning each hair follicle has its own hair cycle and, therefore, not all hair grows and falls out at the same time.
The cycle of each hair is divided into 3 phases:
- ANAGEN PHASE → Hair growth phase that lasts 1-3 years. It is a phase of regeneration and growth in which each hair grows 1-2cm per month
- CATAGEN PHASE → Transition phase that lasts approximately 3 months where the hair remains without growing until it passes to the last phase
- TELOGEN PHASE → The hair stops growing, even though it remains attached to the hair follicle. This phase lasts 3 months until the hair ends up falling out on its own, or when we apply a mechanical force to it (we brush it, comb it, wash it)
