With a hairdryer
Hair is a structure made up of different components such as proteins (Keratin), Lipids, Pigments, Water, Mineral salts, etc. Like all cells, if we subject them to high temperatures, they can be damaged.
In the case of hair, when we dry it with a hairdryer, we must ensure that the temperature is not too high so as not to denature its proteins, that is, not to damage them.
That is why, if we dry our hair with a hairdryer for a long time, and also at very high temperatures, the hair dries out, the ends split, the scalp becomes irritated, and the hair follicles weaken.
If we like to dry our hair with a hairdryer and do not want to damage it, we must follow the following recommendations:
- Use the hairdryer once we have wrung out the hair with the towel after showering
- We should use the hairdryer at the lowest temperature and at low power
- The hairdryer should always be placed 20cm away from the hair
- It is advisable that the heat does not hit the same spot for a long time, but rather keep the hairdryer moving throughout the hair
- Nozzles can be attached to the hairdryer to direct the intensity of the heat, as well as diffusers so that they do not damage curly hair.
With a towel
After cleaning the hair, it is advisable to wrap it in a towel like a turban and keep it like this for 5-10 minutes. Then it is advisable to remove it and dry it with the towel with small taps to finish absorbing the remaining drops of water.
It is not advisable to shake the hair strongly, as the roots can be damaged, and it is likely that the hair will fall out with so much friction.
Depending on the amount of hair we have, the outside temperature, and if we do not go to bed after washing it, there is no problem in not applying a hairdryer after drying with a towel.
